From the moment we connect, I want your experience to feel completely different than any other photographer with whom you’ve ever worked. Because I specialize in creating artwork, I make it a point to get to know you and your family.
By creating with me, we are making an investment in each other. My images are here to enhance your life and you enhance mine by allowing me to create beautiful work with you while contributing to my family.
Below, you’ll find some more insight about working together and some common questions I hear from first-time clients.
Creation fee: $150
This fee covers any cost associated with the session. This includes things like location, props, and editing. I work very hard to ensure that our portrait session goes perfectly.
Client Average Investment: $1,500
why invest in family photography?
Celebrating life, family and love through the power of art. Picture this- you come home, turn on the light, and the first thing you see as you settle into your evening is a big display of your beautiful little one wishing on a dandelion, running through a field, and giving the best 4-year-old hug ever.
Then you walk into your baby’s nursery and it’s been decorated with photos of him from the time he was in your belly all the way to his first birthday where he smeared cake all over a balloon and is laughing hysterically at the mess.
When you go to buy a new piece of art or decor for your home, what do you base the purchase on? You base it on whether or not you make an emotional connection with it. The piece makes your heart sing and puts a smile on your lips. Wouldn’t it make the most sense to invest in celebrating and displaying the people you love the very most in life? They are what makes a house a home. That is where I come in. I create beautiful artwork, to display in your home, of your family that will be cherished for generations to come.
Getting to know you
The first thing I always start with is a phone consultation. This allows both of us to gage if we are a good fit to work together. Because I am not like other photographers in Kansas City, I want to make sure that what I offer is going to fulfill your wishes. The first phone call will be all about getting to know you and your family. What are you looking for in a photographer? What are you hoping to accomplish? Are you as excited about creating wall art for your family as much as I am? Do you have pets? Can I pet them? Just kidding… but not really. I’m an avid animal lover so if you want your turtle, pet goldfish and you puppy in the photo, by all means let’s do it.
What you can expect from me during this call. I will listen more than talk. I get very excited about the beautiful art that I offer my clients so I may ramble a bit, but I swear I’ll turn it right back to you. I will be 100% transparent with you. We will talk briefly about the investment you’re looking at if you choose to work with me and I will get slightly emotional when I tell you why I do what I do. I do not want the investment to be our main point of the conversation, but I do believe that, as with any custom artwork, whether painting, sculpture, or photo, there is a cost associated with it and it needs to be addressed. It will be an easy conversation, not a sales pitch. I know I’m not for everyone and I’m not going to try to please the masses. I’m looking for clients that understand the value of a piece of art that will get you right in the feels every time you look at it.
Let’s Meet Up
Once we have established that we are destined to work together, we will schedule an in person consultation. This is something that most photographers don’t do, but it is essential. In this consultation, we will either meet in my office or at your home. I love meeting at my clients’ homes because it’s a great way to discuss your thoughts on where you plan on displaying your art and the sizes that work best for the space.
Whether we meet at your home or my office, there are a few things we will accomplish together. First, as mentioned above, artwork placement and sizing. Second, we will create an action plan for your session; from outfits and hair to style and location. You will have the option to choose either in studio or on location; usually at a park or other scenic area, or in your home. I will answer any questions you may have and then at the end, I will collect the creation fee of $150, you will sign the general liability contract, and we will set the date. It will take between 30 minutes to an hour.
Yay! It’s session day! During the session, we will meet at the location chosen at the in person consultation. We will do both posed and more natural shots so I can ensure I give you lots of beautiful options from which to choose. If you have any must haves for the session (poses, props, etc.) we will discuss that at the in person consultation and incorporate them as we can. I specialize in children sessions, so don’t be surprised if we plan a tickle mutiny against you or that I get silly in the name of making your kids feel safe and comfortable enough to give me a real smile.
The Ordering Session
Once your portrait session is complete, I will edit them and choose the very best images. I will create a beautiful slide show for you to watch of all the wonderful memories we captured from your session. Don’t be surprised if you get a little emotional. Most do. You will be presented with many options; from single images to collages. Remember when we discussed the sizes you thought you might want to display in your home? This is why. You’ve already thought about it so now all you have to do is choose which images you want in what size. I will give you my opinions, but ultimately it’s your home and your choice. I’m there as a sounding board and a guiding hand. We will also discuss framing options. At the end, I will take payment for your choices and place your order once I get back to the office. The whole ordering session will take about an hour or less.
All art is purchased at the time of the ordering session and is a la cart. We will go over the cost associated with purchasing wall art at the time of our consultation so you will know exactly what to expect when the ordering session is scheduled.
Pick Up Time
Turn around time is between 4 to 6 weeks after your ordering session. This time excludes framing. I work with a local framing company to give my clients high quality, acid free matting and archival quality glass. This will ensure that all of your artwork by M Baylor Imagery will be around for years to come. Once framing is complete, you will have the option to pick up from my office, or I can bring it to your home and even help you hang it up! I know, I’m a little extra for my
